So Zoie Palmer (Dr. Lauren) has taken over Lost Girl's twitter account for the day and then this gem came out:

Zoie Palmer wonders what it means to ship something.

ahhh lolling forever how on earth did she manage to get through a whole season of that show before learning this word

T-this is a show that canonically refers to Bo's love interests as "Teams" o-omg.

rofl whatttt. How do you exist on the internet without knowing that word?

Also, this show looks kind of interesting. But it sounds like it could go either REALLY REALLY WRONG or really right. WHICH IS IT. And if it's the former, is it at least so bad it's good? :D

Idk most people who aren't in fandom don't know that word, so I wouldn't normally be surprised. BUT LOST GIRL? SRSLY???

It's... a little of both? :D;; It pings so many of my fictional kinks that TV never, ever touches that it's like I have to keep pinching myself to assure myself I haven't just DREAMED THE WHOLE THING UP, buttttt it has a lot of moments of fail, too. And also, the female love interest (the one played by Zoie Palmer lol) has really been getting the short end of the stick this season, and I like Bo with her much better than with Dyson so... :\ I'm hoping she'll get more screen time (and Bo time) next season. ALSO A THREESOME WOULD BE NICE, I MEAN THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED IN CANON WITH SOME BO AND RANDOM FAE SO IS THIS REALLY SO MUCH TO HOPE FOR??? plzzzz

Anyway, the show is magnificently cheesy, but in the fun way, if you like that sort of thing.

Agreed. If you dig campy serial mystery-style urban fantasy series, but want yours with more bisexuality, hilarious badass-normal sidekicks, and one of the better paranormal bartenders I've seen, go with this. If you can't get into cheese, you probably won't like Lost Girl; the thing's so campy it could pitch its own tent, so just a warning. It's imperfect too, as woodburner says, but as it fails a good deal less than a lot of its contemporaries (many of which I still enjoy, mind) and has a lot of stuff you just don't expect to see on TV at all (such as the aforementioned bisexuality BO COULD HAVE GONE SO WRONG OMG HOW ARE THEY PULLING HER OFF), I tend to be pretty forgiving of it. Plus, everyone in the main cast is really hot. Even the best friends. So. Yeah. Eye candy value.

Also agree with the above re. the female love interest. I would add that her character doesn't really get the level of development I'd like to see in or out of the romance, because she's a very interesting bird: one of the only female characters I've ever encountered who's obsessed with her work to the point of selfishness and occasional cruelty, but still treated by the writers as a complex being and not demonized for this. TV is crawling with the male version of this trope, but just seeing her particular combination of features on a major female character consistently blows my mind.

Also, person I don't know, I dig the Last Exile icon and have used mine in turn. Possibly my favorite anime; if not, then a favorite.

Ooh, you are both selling this very well. AND YES, I was very worried about how the bisexual succubus thing and the two love interests of opposing genders stuff would go. It sounds like it does pretty darn well with them, though, so I am pleased.

I can definitely get with the cheese! Cheese is best when everyone recognizes it for what it is, and I think that's what you are suggesting? But yes~

ALSO LOVING WHAT YOU ARE SAYING ABOUT THE DOCTOR LADY. Complex women who are allowed to be unpleasant and/or angry sometimes and not be seen as forever-and-inherently horrible for it, do want.

I dig yours as well, person I don't know! I was very excited when I saw Sophia next to your comment. This series gets so little love. ;0;

HMMM. Supernatural things aren't usually my cup of tea, but WHY NOT. Ladies! Bisexual succubus ladies!

D-do you have links to where I can watch it or something? D:

Greetings from yet another person you don't know! I don't know of any torrents (though I imagine they're relatively easy to find), but if direct download is your thing, I would like to recommend FilesTube for the finding-and-downloading of episodes. Argh, I'm so behind in watching ;_; Must catch up tomorrow or something...

Hello other person I don't know! Torrents don't work so well on my connection, so this is very useful, thank you! *u*

The show with the canon bisexual succubus is unaware of what the word "shipping" means?
Dec. 7th, 2010 08:41 pm (UTC)
Well not the show (I'd be v. surprised if the writers didn't know), just Zoie Palmer. XD HOW ADORABLY INNOCENT
