*drags self in the door*

Yeah, uh, hi. I'm not dead!

- I did have things to say about that awful female character flowchart, but there are just too many things and I don't have the capacity to say them coherently and everyone else already did anyway, but yeah. That happened.

- I have approximately a jillion emails and the like that I owe people and right now that seems so beyond me I can't even. Augh.

- On a brighter note, Malinda Lo just revealed the cover for her upcoming second book, Huntress. OMG EXCITING.

- Also, apparently sales of Cindy Pon's Silver Phoenix have gone up significantly. Since it has been pulled out of bookstores, this is quite a feat. YAY! (I'd link or post the screencap of the tweet, but I waited too long and can't find it anymore, alas. [personal profile] inkstone posted a screencap here!)

Okay, so excited about Huntress, and that cover is awesome! I'll have to order it as soon as it comes out! I haven't read Silver Phoenix yet, but it's on my list!

Yay for Cindy Pon! I read her book, then bought another copy and donated it to my library.

Also, now I want to read that Malinda Lo book really, really bad, even though I know nothing about it. Bad ass women are for the win.

First time seeing that chart, so: whaaaaaaat. The author not only made up some batshit offensive stereotypes, but used some of the most interesting female characters in modern pop fiction to represent them. It's the most lavish strawwoman argument I've ever seen.

The first thing I saw was Azula=girl Hitler since she's a sexualized (?) sociopath and my eyes kind of glazed over. Putting aside the raging capslocks, I think the one person who called the chart a disasterpiece hit the nail on the head.

I know I added at least +1 to the Silver Phoenix sales! What a nice romp of a book (and why were they always eating, I'm hungry thinking about it /not really a complaint). |3 I will just have to make-up my own cover for the second one, since I'm going to guess they're still pushing through with those -ahem- redesigned covers? A pet-peeve of mine is non-matching book covers in a series (unless I received them second-hand or paid a couple of dollars, then my cheapness overcomes the peeve).

I've seen a lot of people defending the flowchart as either a parody or criticism of the canons which is ridiculous. If that was the intent, they failed badly anyway.

The Huntress cover is so pretty. *__*

Dude, I was wondering about you the other day. XD I am glad you are still around.

The flowchart irritates the bejesus out of me. I get that it's supposed to be snarky and make a ~point~ about how people are hard on portrayals of females, but ugh. I really wish people could make points without being kind of tasteless.

I don't think it was trying to make a point on how people are hard on female characters - if it was, it failed utterly to make that clear, and seems instead to be saying that all female characters ever are 2 dimensional stereotypes, including some real people.
